Block walls for privacy and sound
A reinforced concrete block wall is the most durable property-line fence you can build. It blocks noise from busy roads, adds privacy, does not rot or need painting, and can be finished with a split-face or precision block, stucco, or a stone or brick cap. We also build sound walls for homes backing onto arterials and highways such as Golden State Boulevard and Highway 99.
Retaining walls that drain
Retaining walls hold back soil to level a yard, create a raised patio or terrace a slope. The most common reason a retaining wall leans or cracks is water pressure building up behind it. Every retaining wall we build includes proper drainage behind the wall, such as gravel backfill and a drain line, along with steel reinforcement and a footing sized to the height and load.
We build both reinforced CMU retaining walls and segmental retaining walls made from interlocking block. For taller walls, or walls supporting a driveway or structure, we work with your engineer and the city on permits.
Planters, seat walls and enclosures
Block is also the backbone of raised planters, seat walls around a patio or fire pit, and equipment enclosures. These can be finished with stucco, stone veneer or brick to match your home.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need a permit for a retaining wall in Turlock?
Permit requirements depend on the wall height, what the wall supports and your city or county rules. Taller walls, and walls holding up a driveway, slope or building, typically need a permit and sometimes an engineered design. We will tell you what applies to your project during the estimate.
Why do retaining walls fail?
Most retaining wall failures come from water pressure behind the wall, an undersized footing or missing reinforcement. We build every wall with drainage, steel and a footing designed for the height and soil.
Can a block wall be finished to look nicer?
Yes. Block walls can be built with split-face or colored block, or finished with stucco, stone veneer or brick, plus a decorative cap.
Do you build sound walls?
Yes. We build reinforced block sound walls for homes and properties that face busy roads.
