Find the cause, then fix it
A crack in a wall is a symptom. Before we repair anything, we look at why it happened: settling footings, tree roots, water from sprinklers or downspouts, rusting steel, or mortar that was never right. Fixing the cause is what keeps the repair from cracking again next year.
Repair services
Repointing (tuckpointing) replaces worn or crumbling mortar joints with new mortar matched in color and strength. Brick and block replacement removes damaged units and installs matching ones. Crack repair addresses stair-step cracks in block and brick walls. We also reset loose wall caps and stone, rebuild damaged columns and mailbox pillars (including after vehicle damage), and repair cracked or settling concrete steps and landings.
Cleaning and restoration
Efflorescence, hard-water staining and grime can make good masonry look neglected. We clean brick and stone with methods suited to the material, then seal where appropriate so it stays clean longer.

Frequently asked questions
Is a stair-step crack in my block wall serious?
It can be. Stair-step cracks often point to footing movement or water problems. Some are cosmetic and some mean the wall needs to be reinforced or rebuilt. We inspect it and tell you plainly which it is.
What is tuckpointing?
Tuckpointing, also called repointing, is grinding out worn mortar joints and packing in fresh mortar. It restores the strength and weather resistance of the wall and makes old brick look sharp again.
Can you fix a mailbox or column a car hit?
Yes. We rebuild damaged brick and stone columns and mailboxes and match the original materials as closely as possible. We can provide documentation for insurance claims.
