How stamped concrete is made
We start with a well-compacted base and a reinforced slab, then add color, either mixed into the concrete or broadcast onto the surface, plus a release agent in a second color for depth. While the concrete is still workable, our crew presses textured mats into the surface to create the pattern. After curing, the slab is washed and sealed to bring out the color and protect it.
Timing is everything with stamping. In Valley summer heat the concrete sets fast, so we plan pours for early mornings and staff each job so every section is stamped at the right moment.
Patterns, colors and finishes
Popular patterns include ashlar slate, random stone, cobblestone, European fan, brick herringbone and wood plank. We can combine a stamped field with a smooth or contrasting border, and pair it with acid stain or antiquing for a natural, varied look. We also offer colored concrete with a broom or salt finish, concrete staining, and concrete sealing for existing slabs.
Where stamped concrete works best
Backyard patios, pool decks, front walkways and entry courtyards are the most common. Stamped concrete also works on driveways when the slab is designed for vehicle loads. Because a stamped surface can get slick when wet, we add a slip-resistant additive to the sealer on pool decks and steps.

Frequently asked questions
How long does stamped concrete last?
A properly built stamped slab lasts as long as any other concrete. The color and sheen are kept fresh by resealing every few years, depending on sun exposure and traffic.
Is stamped concrete slippery?
Sealed concrete can be slick when wet. We mix an anti-slip grit into the sealer on pool decks, steps and walkways to improve traction.
Can you stamp over my existing concrete?
Traditional stamping has to be done on fresh concrete. If your existing slab is in good shape, a stamped overlay or a stain may be an option. If it is cracked or settling, we usually recommend a tear-out and new pour.
How soon can I use my new stamped patio?
You can usually walk on it in a day or two and put patio furniture on it after about a week. Vehicles should wait longer on driveways. We give you exact timing for your pour.
